What: Like a photo-finish out at Canterbury, this race was to close to call. Both WCCO and KSTP news broadcasts brought us hyperbolic pre and post-game reporting of the Twins home opener. Their folksy and cheesy material culminated with game highlights that were nothing if not over the top.

Staccato-like emphasis of adjectives describing game action gave viewers an impression of drama and greatness. Grinning from ear to ear, Mark Rosen and Rod Simons were at their best overstating the significance of this annual event. With over 150 more games ahead of them, they can't possibly keep up this enthusiasm...can they?
