Who: Mark Rosen
What: While on the verge of a "two and through", Flip Saunders apologists were out in full force this week blaming everyone but the coach for the Pistons three straight losses against an inferior Cavaliers team. Those pizza parties must have had a big impact on the boys from 9 - noon and the younger fellas at 7:00 p.m. on 1130 the FAN. However those "we've got your back Flip" sentiments don't bring home the bacon this week.
A early favorite for "Homer of the Year" as the first two-time weekly winner, (we warned you last week about the pending segment on Viking center Matt Birk's new eatery), Mr. Rosen incorporated all the elements of a provincial promotion piece. A media darling, a smitten interviewer, and blatant brown nosing that have become ubiquitous on the late Sunday night recap shows. Mr. Birk's new restaurant received thousands of dollars (if he had to pay for a three minute ad) of free exposure as Mr. Rosen served up softballs and the chefs did in kind with a few appetizers.
Bottom Line: Who will be the next "media darling" that WCCO endorses?
