Who: FSN Live Crew
What: This week the Minnesota Twins finally came to life precipitating a resurgence of the media’s overdramatic promotion.
KFAN listeners became confused by the contradictory comments from former Twins bat boy Jeff Dubay. While pointing out the holes they need to fill moving forward and predicting they will not make the post season in 2006, he also stated, “I think they are a good team”. Typically a baffling take like that (regarding a team hovering at .500 and eleven games back) would bring home the H.O.W. However we feel charitable this week and need to hand out multiple awards for a group effort.
Witnessing the post game antics of the FSN Live staff was borderline unbearable (if not predictable). From Marney Gellner serving up softballs to Anthony LaPanta pronouncing, “the amazing run continues at home for the Twins” and Dick and Bert hyping Ted Williams (or rather Joe Mauer), their frenzied excitement evoked memories of a kid running out to play after a week of being grounded. Understandably they were overjoyed and relieved at the winning streak, but their presentation was over-the-top.
Bottom Line: Given how they cover the local teams, could FSN actually stand for “Friendly Sports Network”?
