Who: Dave
Mona
What: It was a borderline perfect storm
from WCCO radio “talent” this week regarding the
hometown teams. In uncharacteristic fashion, Dark Star suggested
the World Baseball Classic cost the Twins eight additional
wins (“no other team has been more inconvenienced than
the Twins”). Sid Hartman demonstrated a childish sense
of entitlement with his tantrum over Affinity Broadcasting’s
(WCCO parent) removing themselves from negotiations for future
Twins radio rights. Even normally even-keeled Randy Shaver
(KARE 11 TV) was on the “Mauer Power” bandwagon
claiming he is the best athlete to ever come out of Minnesota.
However it was Sid’s Sunday morning partner that landed
the H.O.W.
Dave Mona brought out his shoe shining kit and went to work
on Timberwolves Kevin Garnett’s size 15 sneakers. He
complimented Garnett for remaining at the stadium for the
full ten innings during the Twins-Astros game.
Bottom Line: Wow, a $20 million dollar salaried
individual deciding to stay at an entertaining Major League
Baseball game until its conclusion…what an unselfish
act deserving Mr. Mona’s admiration.
