For the week ending September 2, 2006

Who: Judd Zulgad

What: Many candidates...

Sid Hartman stated it was "too bad" that Joe Mauer was tired and thus gave up a passed ball during a 4-3 loss to the Royals.

Jeff Dubay continued to use his favorite adjective in discussing the Vikings prospects, "The secondary could be elite". Homer's Blog.

Mark Rosen said the Twins season was "one of the most extraordinary things ever seen in the Twin Cities".

Clay Matvik said "Dallas has not played well" at the end of a 10-10 preseason game vs. the Vikings while failing to criticize the purple to any extent.

Dark Star suggested Joe Mauer could be the one person to "save" baseball from scandals such as the steroid controversy

Jim Souhan nearly handed Alex Daniels the Heisman with his article on the new Gophers linebacker turned tailback including this "As good as (Gary) Russell was, Daniels made you wonder how much he'll be missed."

Only one winner...

Shinning up fellow media members is another common modus operandi in the land of Homersota. Star Tribune writer Judd Zulgad employed some "mutual admiration society" tactics with his notes regarding Chad Hartman's decision not to continue his radio play by play work for the Timberwolves. One or two paragraphs would have been more than sufficient, but the length of the story was puzzling considering the relative insignificance of this news.

Bottom Line:  No doubt Judd will continue to be a guest on KFAN's 2:00 - 4:30 show.
