Who:
Jeff Dubay
What: During a discussion of the upcoming Baseball Hall of Fame voting, Mr. Dubay stridently made his case for former Twins pitcher Bert Blylevens induction. His comparison of other HOF pitchers included these comments regarding Tom Seaver and Don Sutton: "Bert Blyleven was every bit the pitcher that either of these guys were, if not better, statistics back it up."
Contrasting him with Sutton may be legitimate..but Tom Seaver?
12 time all-star
3 Cy Young Awards
Rookie of the Year
Ace of two World Series teams
311 wins
.603 wining % (also played on many bad teams)
2.86 ERA
More K's per innings pitched
Gave up 50 fewer HR
First Ballot HOF (highest % ever for a pitcher)
Bottom Line: Blyleven will likely (and probably should) make the hall some day but few would ever consider him in Seaver's class...could this homer take be the result of wearing a tight batboy jersey?
